Mother's Day (second Sunday of May)
The single biggest flower holiday of the year. Order at least a week ahead, and consider delivery on the Friday or Saturday before so the flowers are there for the whole weekend. Mixed spring bouquets, peonies (in season in May), hydrangeas and orchid plants are the top choices. Delivery on Mother's Day itself is possible in most NJ cities but sells out.
Christmas and Hanukkah
Evergreen arrangements, amaryllis, poinsettias and red-and-white centerpieces dominate December. Order early in the month for hostess gifts and office deliveries; the week before Christmas is very busy. For Hanukkah, white and blue arrangements are traditional.
Easter and spring
Lilies, tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are the Easter classics. Order a few days ahead; Easter weekend deliveries are limited in some areas because many shops close on Easter Sunday.
Thanksgiving
Centerpieces in autumn colors (oranges, burgundies, golds) are the standard hostess gift. Send to the host's home the day before Thanksgiving so it is on the table for dinner. Thanksgiving Day delivery is rare.
Valentine's Day
Order at least a week ahead. Red roses are the majority of orders, and prices rise in mid-February. Delivery to an office on February 13 is a popular, reliable alternative. See our romantic flowers guide for more.
