How to send flowers to a patient at Trinitas

  1. Confirm the patient is admitted and which unit they are on. Call the main number, 908-994-5000, and ask; the unit determines whether flowers are allowed.
  2. Order online with the hospital's street address. Use 225 Williamson Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202, not a P.O. box.
  3. Add the patient's full legal name and the unit or room. Put it in the recipient name and delivery-instructions fields so the information desk can route it.
  4. Order in the morning. Patients are often discharged before noon; an early same-day order has the best chance of arriving in time.
  5. Include your phone number. The florist calls you if the patient has moved or been discharged, so the delivery can be redirected.

About Trinitas

Trinitas Regional Medical Center is a Catholic teaching hospital that joined RWJBarnabas Health in 2022. It runs two campuses in Elizabeth: the Williamson Street Campus at 225 Williamson Street is the main hospital, and the New Point Campus on East Jersey Street houses its behavioral health and psychiatric programs and a long-term care center.

Medical-surgical floors, intensive care and maternity are at Williamson Street. The maternity unit has private rooms, a 20-bed mother/baby unit and a Level II intermediate care nursery. Psychiatric inpatients are at the New Point Campus, which has a different address, so confirm the campus before sending anything to a behavioral health patient.

Trinitas flower policy

Trinitas's patient guide says volunteers deliver patients' mail, packages and flowers, and that flowers are not permitted in the intensive care units, the operating room or the recovery room. It gives no rule for balloons or plants.

As at most hospitals, flowers are generally welcome on medical, surgical, maternity and rehabilitation floors and not permitted in intensive-care units or rooms with immunocompromised patients. Latex balloons are usually banned; Mylar balloons are fine. If you are unsure which unit the patient is on, call the hospital and ask before ordering.

Medical-surgical units allow two visitors at a time from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The intensive care unit and the postpartum unit allow two visitors from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; on maternity that is in addition to the birth partner. Visitors get a pass at the desk in the main lobby.

The hospital says an NJ Transit station on the Northeast Corridor line is within walking distance of the Williamson Street Campus.

What to send to a hospital room

  • Compact vase arrangement, low fragrance, in a stable non-glass container: fits a crowded bedside table.
  • Bright gerbera daisies or sunflowers: cheerful, scent-free and sturdy.
  • A small flowering plant: goes home with the patient and keeps giving.
  • Mylar balloon bouquet: the fallback when the unit does not allow flowers.

Trinitas delivery FAQ

Which Trinitas campus should flowers go to?

Almost always the Williamson Street Campus, 225 Williamson Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202: that is where medical, surgical, intensive care and maternity patients are. Behavioral health inpatients are at the New Point Campus on East Jersey Street; call 908-994-5000 to confirm before sending anything there.

Are flowers allowed in the ICU at Trinitas?

No. The hospital's patient guide says flowers are not permitted in the intensive care units, the operating room or the recovery room.

Can I send flowers to a patient at Trinitas Regional Medical Center?

Yes. Order online with the hospital's address (225 Williamson Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202), the patient's full name and the unit or room. The florist delivers to the information desk, and hospital staff bring the arrangement to the patient.

Do I need the room number?

It helps but is not required. The patient's full legal name and the unit are enough for the desk to route the delivery.

Is same-day delivery available to Trinitas?

Usually, when you order in the morning. The hospital is inside the regular Elizabeth delivery zone; the cutoff for your date is shown at checkout.

What if the patient is discharged before the flowers arrive?

The hospital will refuse the delivery and the florist will contact you to redirect it, normally to the patient's home. Order early in the day to avoid this.
